Sudden Cardiac Arrest or SCA is the number 1 killer worldwide. More than 400,000 Americans dies each year due to SCA. In Europe, the fatality is over a million. In the Philippines, about 250,000 Filipinos succumbs unexpectedly each year because of SCA.

SCA is the silent killer that kills more than Cancer and HIV combined. But it CAN BE PREVENTED.

SCA is caused when the heart stops beating. That event is called Ventricular Fibrillation (or VF). VF is not the same as a "heart attack". SCA does not give you warnings (such as chest pains, dizzy spells or pain in the nape)... without warning it strikes anyone of any age at anytime, anywhere! There is only one surest way to survive when it happens. The answer is early Defibrillation. It is liken to rebooting the heart…so it will beat again.

One has only a maximum of 10 minutes to survive an SCA. Ideally, early defibrillation should be done within the first 5 minutes! That is the best time window of time to get fibrillated. Every minute counts counts when SCA happens. The chances of survival diminish by 7 to 10% per minute. That window of time is not enough for EMS (first responder in an ambulance) to save a victim of SCA.

The Solution is a portable device known as an Automated External Defibrillator or AED - the one and only definitive treatment to sudden cardiac arrest and the only way to prevent sudden cardiac death.
